Jocelyn Johnston is a professor in the Department of Public Administration and Policy at the American University School of Public Affairs.
Professor Johnston's research focuses on government contracting, public management, and intergovernmental programs and policy. Her publications can be seen in such scholarly journals as the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory, Public Administration Review, and Administration and Society. Professor Johnston's funded research includes several studies of social welfare reform in the states, funded by the Federalism Research Group, State Capacity Project, and the Rockefeller Institute of Government, as well as several others.
Professor Johnston also served for ten years in local government administering federally and state funded social welfare programs. She has served as Chair of the national Association for Budgeting and Financial Management.
